About Me

Hafsa Al Tamimi

My language is art, and my art is the features of humans that I draw in joy, sorrow, happiness, pain, love, giving, and peace. Each painting has its own features, and among all human features, I always long for the features of my dear father, to whom I dedicate my work to his soul.

Hafsa Al-Tamimi earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Ain Shams University in Egypt in 1999. As a passionate artist and member of the Omani Society for Fine Arts, she runs her own art training studio called Art & Heart. Hafsa Al Tamimi's Journey

My journey with art began when I was a little child who was fond of cartoons. Spending a long time painting cartoon characters, I noticed how good I was at it and preferred drawing more to playing with other kids. My mother was the first person I was influenced by as she was a painter herself and an Arts teacher. My father also loved painting in addition to drawing simple sketches. He was also a talented calligrapher.

When I was about to join university, I traveled to Cairo and my father advised me to study something different from art. At university, I used to go to visit the Arts Department and find great delight in looking at various paintings. Whenever I saw street artists, I stopped admiring their paintings knowing that I was deeply connected to them.

After university, I joined the Omani Society for Fine Arts where I delved into Arts learning about various art schools, approaches and means such as painting, photography, sculpture and using a combination of materials. I started participating in art galleries with some realistic drawings. I became particularly interested in painting nature, castles, aflaj, beaches, and traditional crafts. An environment with its vivid green and ochre colors especially intrigued me. Not to mention the colour of the vast sky.

Later, I moved to draw faces using expressionist, abstract and symbolic approaches. I have been influenced by many artists, especially Picasso. I have also been inspired by women’s stories and their emotions. So I painted their features spontaneously and expressively with a touch of fantasy. Women have always been my muses.

Today, I am still extensively discovering myself through my artwork and my journey never ends. I have represented Oman in various international exhibitions. My paintings have been acquired by several government entities and museums in Oman and around the world.

And here I am, savouring my art journey and immersing myself in exquisite details of nature or anything that I find inspiring within me or in reality.

Every piece of painting has its own unique style, story and features, but of all things and people, the most features I long for are my beloved father’s features.
